Law enforcement officials are looking into the death of a 32-year-old woman from Davie who was killed after she got out of a vehicle pulled over onto the shoulder of South Federal Highway. According to the Sun-Sentinel, the accident happened in the 3200 block of South Federal near the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
According to the accident report, the woman was a passenger in a vehicle that pulled over onto the side of the road. For unknown reasons, she reportedly walked into oncoming traffic and was hit and killed. She was pronounced dead just before 12:00 a.m. at Broward Health Medical Center.

-Make sure you get to a safe location. Turn on your emergency flashers and use a flare or cones if posslible to warn oncoming traffic.
-Start making phone calls. Call a friend or a family member to let them know what happened. You also want to call for roadside help. You can call the highway patrol as well for help.
-Roll down the window on the driver’s side, hang out a white cloth or piece of paper, and roll the window back up to secure it in place. This is going to help to alert others that your vehicle is disabled for whatever reason, and they should proceed around you.
-You want to avoid being hit by an oncoming vehicle, so it’s important that you stay away from the side of your vehicle that’s facing traffic.
-If you’re stopped because you got a flat tire, your best bet is to not change it on the side of the road. It’s cheaper to ride on a rim to an auto repair shop than to wind up in the hospital because of an accident.
-Don’t try to make the repairs yourself. It’s likely ineffective and most definitely dangerous.
-If a stranger approaches your vehicle, do not roll down the window or open the car door. Simply crack your window and ask them to call for help.
-Avoid walking to seek safety. You’re at most of a risk for an accident while walking alongside a busy roadway than sitting on the side of the road, inside your vehicle, buckled up.
When you wind up on the side of the road, make sure that staying safe and getting to safety are your top concerns. One wrong move could cost you your life. Be safe.
